Creativity Quotes

What makes us more creative? Is it reading creativity quotes all day long or is it doing something about it?

We can read creativity quotes but I think it's more important to do something, and at time, anything. It means writing, developing, drawing, reading, thinking, sculpting and creating.

We feel a sense of creativity by doing. There is a sense of accomplishment we feel by doing. The creative process is all about thinking and then doing.

Becoming an Explorer

Become an Explorer. An explorer looks for ideas wherever they can find them. An explorer gathers ideas and puts them together so you can use them at a later date.

The idea of the Explorer comes from Roger von Oeach's book "A Whack on the Side of the Head." Besides the Explorer, there is the Artist who puts together the ideas gathered by the Explorer. After the Artist puts together the ideas then the Judge takes a look at how well the ideas work. If they aren't good enough, then the Judge sends it back to the Artist for more work.

If the Judge approves the Artist's work, then the Warrior takes over the idea and fights for it.

Digital Camera Light Invention

We have a client who has created an invention that's pretty creative. It is a light that you can put on digital cameras. This digital camera light helps you focus in low light situations. You can also use it as a supplement for video cameras.

They are also coming out with a phone camera light. Now your phone camera can make the most of low light situations.

Creativity on Christmas Morning

On Christmas morning I was dressed in black pants, black shoes, black shirt and green face. Three others guys and I were "The Yule Man Group," a knock-off of "The Blue Man Group." The other guys were dressed similarly, but had faces that were silver, gold and red.

We had a lot of fun putting together a couple musical numbers. The first one was Jingle Bells, which we played by rubbing the rims of crystal goblets. They played specific notes according to the amount of water in the goblets and the size of the goblet.

We also played "Ode to Joy" using things called Boom Whackers. They are the size and shape of wrapping paper tubes, but they have their own notes according to how long they are.

I enjoyed the performances (two services), as well as the practices. We were all able to express our creativity during the practices until we had a good outcome. It just goes to show you that one person can have a very good idea, and then that idea can be perfected as input comes from the others in the group.
